Building Trust

Building trust is more than our tagline, it’s our code of ethics.

Building or remodeling a home is a big decision. It comes down to approach, capabilities, experience, and trust. When hiring a builder, look for a team that integrates the design and build process. Find someone that understand the needs of your family. Ensure your builder is truly a partner—someone who communicates effectively and efficiently.

The Highmark Difference

The Highmark Difference means an integrated design/build process. Our in-house team of project managers, job supervisors, carpenters, and award-winning interior designers are invested in making your home building project a success. We are confident we will exceed your expectations. This is how Highmark builds, by earning your family’s trust.

Meet Our Team

Highmark’s strong culture of ethics and teamwork is a direct result of our leadership. Meet the people that set our course.

Jim Moras

Partner

Jim learned about the inner workings of houses at an early age from his dad, who was both a plumber and electrician. That interest blossomed into a career that has spanned two decades and included stints with commercial as well as residential construction firms from the Twin Cities to L.A. Jim loves going to work every day, meeting new clients and taking on new challenges.

He particularly enjoys using his gift for design to create homes that combine beauty with unique functionality. It’s also important to Jim that Highmark offers a warm, open and family-oriented environment where people can thrive in their positions. He and partner Terry work hard to recruit the best people and make it a place that they want to stay.

Jim has a B.S. in Construction Management from Mankato State University. He enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering on building projects in Central and South America through his church.

He is married to Katie, a Spanish teacher, and the father of Courtney, Cody and Andrés.

Terry Gaulrapp

Partner

Terry has worked in nearly every facet of the construction industry in his over 20 years in business. His hands-on experience in everything from design to scheduling to building and finishing give him unparalleled knowledge and understanding of how the process works.

On any given day you’ll find Terry meeting with clients, estimating or managing projects, and overseeing Highmark finances. He enjoys the opportunity to work closely with clients to create the spaces that will transform and enrich their families’ lives. Highmark’s strong culture of ethics and teamwork is a direct result of his leadership.

Terry has a B.S. in Construction Management from Mankato State University. He subsequently spent five years at Ryan Companies as a Project Manager for both residential and commercial construction projects. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as many outdoor sports.

Terry is married to Sara and father to Adrianna, Riley and Addison.

Matt Eastman

Vice President

As Vice President at Highmark Builders, Matt oversees our sales and production team for new construction and remodeling projects. His goal every day is to offer support to our team so they can deliver a completed project that goes beyond our clients’ expectations. It’s his follow-through and dedication to perfection that has enabled us to deliver multiple award-winning projects.

Nathan Carlson

Project Development

There’s a reason Nathan has expertise in all areas within Highmark Builders. He’s worked them himself. Moving from laborer to carpenter to estimator and now project development, Nathan is able to support all our teams with a deeper understanding. Something that makes the whole process smoother and teams happier.

Sam Schmitt

Design & Project Development

As our leader of Design and Project Development, Sam helps our clients elevate spaces in ways they may never have envisioned on their own. It all starts with understanding her clients’ wants and needs — and then delivering the results of their dreams. It’s a process she designed to create incredible spaces and even stronger relationships.

RC Colvin

Dir. of Business Development

Having been on every continent except Antarctica, RC is our most well-traveled employee. But he feels right at home at Highmark Builders as our Director of Business Development. He believes integrity and transparency is what truly builds trust — and what has enabled Highmark Builders to create relationships that last.

Brad Schoen

Sr. Project Manager

Brads finds beauty in the details. Involved in everything from architectural drafting, sales and design, and project management, he’s able to understand all the intricacies of the residential home construction process. It’s this knowledge that makes him a strong partner to owners, architects, and engineers.

Eric DeBruzzi

Sr. Project Manager

As a child, Eric had a passion for woodworking and carpentry. Little did he know back then that it would lead to a successful career at Highmark Builders. Today, Eric manages our new construction and remodel work. He enjoys solving unique challenges in creative ways — while also creating a better finished project and improving the team’s overall experience.

Matt Kruckeberg

Sr. Project Manager

Matt is one of our Senior Project Manager. That means he’s responsible for assuring every project flows smoothly — from answering client questions to supporting subcontractors and connecting all dots. The part of the job he loves most? Turnover day. The day when he gets to reveal a new home or finish remodel to our clients.

Jason Hoernke

Sr. Site Superintendent

Jason knows home building is about more than building homes. It’s about building relationships throughout the entire process. As one of our Site Superintendents, he assures our builders are heard and motivated to work at the best, so our clients can feel at theirs.

Tim McWilliams

Sr. Site Superintendent

Like in any relationship, Tim is only happy when others are happy. It’s this personal quality that makes him a great Site Superintendent at Highmark Builders. Beyond assuring all the project pieces move flawlessly, Tim is focused on the ultimate outcome — keeping homeowners happy, and, well, impressing the project manager.

Chris Herzog

Sr. Site Superintendent

As a Highmark Builder Site Superintendent, Chris has built a career making sure all custom home and remodel projects are completed to plan, code and with utmost respect to the project owner and build team. His ability to solve problems and lead teams is a huge reason for our continued success.

Dan Archambault

Site Superintendent

When he’s not exploring the outdoors with his family, Dan is strengthening our Highmark Builders family. For over 18 years, Dan has done every job imaginable while here. Today, he’s one of our Site Superintendents. Beyond enjoying overseeing a project from start to finish, Dan loves seeing how excited our clients get when they see their dreams become a reality.

Joel Gaulrapp

Estimating & Purchasing

Like many with us, Joel has touched multiple aspects of the construction trades while here. His experience as a construction worker, project manager, and job superintendent gives him that robust, intimate knowledge he relies on to be our Estimator and Purchaser. He’s a main reason every project is set up for success from the start.

Meet Highmark Companies

Our family of brands ensures a beautiful home for a lifetime.

In 2003, our partners, Jim Moras and Terry Gaulrapp, had a friendly competition. They tried to outdo each other in getting the highest snowmobile tracks, or “high mark,” in the mountains of Wyoming. When the company launched, they kept that inspiration to make a “high mark” with their clients. The original Highmark logo featured mountains, reminding our team to set goals and push one other to our highest potential. Highmark quickly became known as a top builder in the Twin Cities area. Over the years, Highmark’s family grew to include Exteriors (2009), Restorations (2012), and most recently, Ruby+Suede Design Studio in 2020.
