Building Trust

Highmark 20th anniversary logo.

We’re celebrating 20 years of Highmark! We started Highmark in 2003 and have since expanded to six companies and over 150 employees.

We want to thank everyone who has been a part of the Highmark journey over the past 20 years. We couldn’t have done it without every client, employee, supplier, partner, vendor, contractor, and supporter.

Building trust is more than our tagline, it’s our code of ethics.

Building or remodeling a home is a big decision. It comes down to approach, capabilities, experience, and trust. When hiring a builder, look for a team that integrates the design and build process. Find someone that understand the needs of your family. Ensure your builder is truly a partner—someone who communicates effectively and efficiently.

The Highmark Difference

The Highmark Difference means an integrated design/build process. Our in-house team of project managers, job supervisors, carpenters, and award-winning interior designers are invested in making your home building project a success. We are confident we will exceed your expectations. This is how Highmark builds, by earning your family’s trust.

Jim Moras

Partner

Jim learned about the inner workings of houses at an early age from his dad, who was both a plumber and electrician. That interest blossomed into a career that has spanned two decades and included stints with commercial as well as residential construction firms from the Twin Cities to L.A. Jim loves going to work every day, meeting new clients and taking on new challenges.

He particularly enjoys using his gift for design to create homes that combine beauty with unique functionality. It’s also important to Jim that Highmark offers a warm, open and family-oriented environment where people can thrive in their positions. He and partner Terry work hard to recruit the best people and make it a place that they want to stay.

Jim has a B.S. in Construction Management from Mankato State University. He enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering on building projects in Central and South America through his church.

He is married to Katie, a Spanish teacher, and the father of Courtney, Cody and Andrés.

On any given day you’ll find Terry meeting with clients, estimating or managing projects, and overseeing Highmark finances. He enjoys the opportunity to work closely with clients to create the spaces that will transform and enrich their families’ lives. Highmark’s strong culture of ethics and teamwork is a direct result of his leadership.

Terry has a B.S. in Construction Management from Mankato State University. He subsequently spent five years at Ryan Companies as a Project Manager for both residential and commercial construction projects. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as many outdoor sports.

Terry is married to Sara and father to Adrianna, Riley and Addison.

Joel Gaulrapp

Estimating & Purchasing

Like many with us, Joel has touched multiple aspects of the construction trades while here. His experience as a construction worker, project manager, and job superintendent gives him that robust, intimate knowledge he relies on to be our Estimator and Purchaser. Meet Highmark Companies

Our family of brands ensures a beautiful home for a lifetime.

In 2003, our partners, Jim Moras and Terry Gaulrapp, had a friendly competition. They tried to outdo each other in getting the highest snowmobile tracks, or “high mark,” in the mountains of Wyoming. When the company launched, they kept that inspiration to make a “high mark” with their clients. The original Highmark logo featured mountains, reminding our team to set goals and push one other to our highest potential. Highmark quickly became known as a top builder in the Twin Cities area. Over the years, Highmark’s family grew to include Exteriors (2009), Restorations (2012), Ruby+Suede Design Studio (2020) and most recently Christian Brothers Cabinets and Highmark Home Services in 2023.
